The McLaren F1 LM needs no introduction, it was in its day the pinnacle road racer, with beauty from any viewing point, it still looks as fresh today as the day it was launched, its one of our favorite cars of all time, so when we got a call to potentially work with one of our long time customers on a special build thats taking place, it was an offer we couldn't refuse.

We have worked with Mark from MJP racing for a number of years, making a few set of wheels for a number of his cars, the one that stands out was a set of our Trafficstar wheels on his Ultima GTR, Mark didn't want to follow the normal route of the standard old looking Ultima GTR wheel, he wanted fresh and modern, upsetting the purists along the way fit fitted our Trafficstar STR 9x19 front and 13x20 rear and it looked pretty spectacular.

He present project is pretty awe inspiring, most people are asking why you would change your original O.Z Chrono Magnesio wheel that you love, to a wheel design that will look the same, with the main reason being tyres and the rear size in particular, the 345/35R18 are like hens teeth, they are no longer manufactured, and the ones that are available are coming to the end of their DOT shelf life, so with a huge brake set up being manufactured for this project, it seemed like a no brainer to to make a larger wheel to house the new brakes and have a better tyre selection.

The wheel design will be an homage to the original O.Z classic 5 spoke, but will be 19" instead of the 18" original set up, we are building the wheel design in 3 piece configuration in 10" & 13" widths, centers will be ultra light weight forged magnesium, with titanium fasteners and all painted in anthracite to match the current set up, this is one wheel build that really excites us, more details will follow as the build happens, with a big shout out to Patrick from Litespeed Racing for stepping up to the plate for our request.

10x19 & 13x19 Magnesium Forged 3 piece centre lock for McLaren F1

A few months back we gave an insight into a build that was happening with a very special BMW M6, and at last we are pleased to say the car has hit the streets and has been out and about at various shows, it not 100% finished and we do know that the kit is still off and on the car, as the rear bumper extensions are still being worked on, as Joakim perfects the fitment he wants with the aero kit.

Personally we would of preferred the none riveted look, but that’s just our own opinion as we aren’t a huge fan of riveted kits, but kudos to Joakim as he has built this car himself and this was the look he wanted, which is what this build is about, we were quite skeptical with how this car was going to turn out when he ordered his 12x21 front and 15x21 rear VAD forged wheels, but we have to say he pulled it off, we look forward to seeing this build progress over the coming months, as we have no doubt he will make changes to perfect this one off wide body M6.

We have had a busy time of late at the VAD HQ, with so much going on its been hectic, but no complaints it’s just the way we like it, and with the BMW Z4 V8 GT3 Just about to head off to Emerald for the last remap, it will then head down to our composite partners BAMD before heading into paint.

Now we get to concentrate on the next bit of work, which is a collaboration with one of our long-time friends Speedwells re-finishers, and to say we are looking forward to it is an understatement.

The sad part is Iby is about to sell off his pride and joy, his awesome red Supra with 800bhp, is automotive perfection, it seems to have been around forever and in a way it has been, as its gone through so many changes and recently spawned a twin in the form of a Black wide body, known as BOMB 11, but that didn't last too long as it was snapped up a few weeks back, and now he has decided to make way with his prize possession, and as we thought, it’s got a lot of interest among the Supra network, so it won’t be long before its found a new home.

So what’s next up to replace the legendary wide body Supra, well what we can tell you is it will be Bi Turbo from the Porsche stable, in the form of the 997 Chassis and will wear the full carbon fibre GT3R wide body aero kit, and it going to be one very special collaboration and build, when quality meets quality, perfection is guaranteed.
