Throughout 2016 we blogged constantly about the Porsche 997 Turbo GT3R that was being built by our South African tuning partner Scribante racing, and at long last we are able to show case to the world the car in all its glory, and boy oh boy they have put together an absolute beauty.

from any viewing point its incredible, they have sourced and used the very best product they could get their competitive hands on, this is one serious racing car, the construction is amazing, with their own neat bespoke touches, like the incredible front hood with a real trick venting system, the front and rear bumper mods and we love the rear fender cooling ducts made from carbon, that sit on top of the really wide rear fenders, that will feed as much air they need in to the huge intercoolers, sitting either side of the carbon vented bumper, Marco from Phoenix Performance has done exceeding well with all the nice little performance upgrades.

The car is set to compete this year and so far the car has been pretty ferocious in testing, with a reliable race ready 650bhp, its one we can’t wait to follow through the year, we wish Franco and his team all the best, and will report on racing as the R takes to the track, now its time to get a UK R on the streets, and for that we will be collaborating with our good friend Iby and Speedwells, watch this space.

Porsche 997 GT3R build by Scribante Racing

We have been in discussion with Patrick from Litespeed Racing for some time now and have been working on a very special project for the all new Mercedes AMG C63 Edition 1 Motor sport edition, that involves his very beautiful VS10 forged wheel design, only rather than using the regular 6061 heat treat forged aluminium and carbon, we are using forged magnesium and carbon for a very special hybrid carbon fibre wheel, built specifically as an exclusive for Andrew Morris and his Icon F1 brand.

Andrew is no stranger to working with high quality exotic materials when constructing a vehicle, his collaboration with the Sheene family when building the icon Sheene Ultrabike is a sheer testament to the word quality, the specification is mind blowing.

1400 CC Suzuki engine, but Andrew added some extra spice with a Garrett Turbocharger, Carrello Con-rods, Wiseco Pistons, and a Motech Formula one wiring system with data logging and mapping adjustment, with some exotic titanium and carbon fibre parts finding their way onto the bike, it just oozes quality from every angle.

This is one project we have been looking forward too, working with some great materials, and the worlds first hybrid carbon and forged Magnesium wheels, bookmark our blog post for more details as this build moves forward.

Saturday the 3rd of June saw Andy Hartwell return to the Mascar race line up, a very busy work schedule along with moving work premises has seen him head down and arse up in his workshop, turning a very old dilapidated factory into to a modern day 5 ramp MOT station, so unfortunately he has had to prioritise, and work commitment has come first, as without work, there is no racing, so with the workload sorted and the new building looking rather dapper, it was time to unwind and have a bit of fun, in true Hartwell style , and what better way to do that, than hit the race track.

MASCAR Racing, Juli and Steve Stanford

With 8 races of the season already gone, Mascar turned up at Birmingham wheels, which happens to be Andy’s home race, and one that he is sponsoring, so it would be rude not to participate in this round, and Saturday morning saw us load up the truck and head off to the track for practice and a little bit set up work and catch up with the guys and gals from the Mascar community, we all had a great morning chewing the fat with a few friends, and sorting out the little set up issues, #05 was ready to rock and roll for race one.

After being away from the first part of the season, Andy lined up near the back of the pack, but fought his way through with some excellent race craft, finishing a formidable 3rd place, not a bad start to the day, and with his race face on, he was looking forward to race 2, where he lined up mid pack, to finish second behind the race winner Juli Stanford.

The final race of the day was always going to be one to watch, and it didn't disappoint, and as luck would have it, Andy misplaced his side safety net support bar, but with Craig on hand from PRO 24, it all got sorted fairly quickly, although Andy was now lining up yet again at the back of the grid.

The race was pretty spectacular, and the in-car Go Pro footage show not only how fast these little pocket rockets are, but also the driving standards really are first class, enjoy and watch from a birds eye perspective of what its like to race one of these stunning little race cars, this really is a series that’s going places, and with a brands hatch next week, proves it’s a series that’s growing fast, so with brands hatch on the horizon followed by another visit to Birmingham, and with a few tweaks in the pipeline, we look forward to seeing hard and fair racing, as they say “If you’re not rubbing you’re not racing” .. see you at Brum.
