When we first got to know Bryce we knew straight away he was very serious about what he wanted, certainly didn't take us long to swept away with his vision, and the plan of his build for the GTR. With the delivery arrival it didn't take him long to start ripping apart his beautiful but stock GTR, within a couple of days the panels were all mocked up to check the fit, finish and what it was going to take to get that desired o.e.m look he desired, with that done and a very hectic army life, the GTR was shipped off to the boys at Auto Ink to assist with their skill set, along with the task of removing the GTR of its o.e.m rear quarter panels, an easy task if you know how.

There are lots of people that have wide body aero kits to various vehicles around the world that don’t see the process of what has to be done to get that wide body to fit, yes there are plenty of videos doing the rounds cutting fenders to fit over fenders, it’s a little different fitting a rear quarter wide body, but Auto Ink knew exactly what it would take, as most of the higher quality body shops would do, it’s a walk in the park for a quality outlet like these guys.

With all the standard panels removed, including the rear quarters, it was time to fit the kit and check out Bryce’s wheel build, and we are pleased to say its been a pleasure watching this beauty take shape, its now time for the car to head off to the guys at Sprayhouse.LLC for the next stage of the process, which is fettling all of the panels and applying the lashings of lush paint.

This is one build that has grabbed our attention from day one, and we can’t wait to see this beast hit the streets, next stop… getting this beauty painted.

We are disappointed to say that we will not at the SEMA 2017 show this year, we were supposed to be there this year but we have just been too busy to even consider flying off on a business, pleasure trip, it’s been a case of head down arse up for most of the year, and with the plans we have in place for 2018 we have a lot to look forward too, so as they say there is always next year.

Although we are not there on a personal level, some of our product will be, unfortunately we missed the boat with Bryce and his mind blowing GTR, as that is still in early build stages, but we luckily we had another project that we had going on throughout 2017.

Porsche 997 Turbo-R

Porsche 997R loaded up and ready for SEMA 2017

It was the back end of 2016 when we were approached by the Sleepers Speed Shop crew through our good friend Manu Gill from Aristo forged wheels, their client wanted our recently launched GT3R aero upgrade for his Porsche 997 Turbo, and as the order was for most of the parts we do for the R conversion, including the complete flat bottom floor this customer wasn't messing around, and it wasn't until we did some investigation homework we found out the customer already had a pretty radical 997 in the form of the Liberty Walk 997 wide body.

There are a couple of the LB conversions that we do like, the mini is pretty funky and the McLaren is a great looking car, but the 997 for us like the GTR is just wrong, sorry but they are both a bit of a mess, but I guess its each to their own, were not keen on the over fender look and it just doesn't work on every car, so the task for the Sleepers crew was to remove the LB Works kit and install our GT3R, and boy oh boy they didn't disappoint, to say they pulled it off is an understatement, the car looks incredible, we could be any happier with this finished beauty.

There are plenty of people that have signed up for our blog post stateside, so if you’re heading to the SEMA show and you want to get up close and personal with this amazing 997R, head over to the Toyo Tires Treadpass area and you will see it in all its glory.

We would like to thank Len Higa and his Sleepers team for working with us and producing the goods, we look forward to working with these guys again in the near future, they are a class act, and very much a part of the VAD family.

Our range of Porsche aero seems to be growing at an alarming rate, were not complaining though as we are huge fans of the Stuttgart brand here at VAD, but there has always been one model that has never been on our radar, we seem to have neglected the beauty that is the Cayman, well that is until now.

There doesn't seem to be a lot on the market for the 981 chassis, especially in wide body format, you have the odd over fender aero kit, but that design is getting a little tiresome, we wanted a racing style wide body, something that would look at home on the track as it would the road, an RSR, GT3R, Cup look and working with our composite partners that’s what we got, not on form, but function too.

The kit is available in carbon fibre, but wanting to appeal to as many Cayman owners as possible, we also have a GRP option, so we cater for all budgets as not everyone has the carbon fibre funds, as prepreg vacuum infused carbon that’s autoclave cured isn't a cheap process, so parts always have a premium price, so it’s nice to give Cayman owners a price choice.

The aero kit is quite extensive and we will have a basic package, with an extensive optional extras list.

Basic aero pack will consist of: Front Bumper, front bumper canards, front bumper grill set, rear fender extensions, vented side rocker, rear quarter panel, rear bumper, rear diffuser.

Optional extras: light weight carbon doors, GT style wing assembly, front and rear carbon Kevlar arch liners, full scratch coated polycarbonate race window set.

We also have a great selection of wheels available in 1, 2 or 3 piece depending on budget, as we will have forged aluminium as well as forged magnesium, with carbon fibre wheels also available on request, with road and track programmes will be available for this build, suspension and exhaust systems will also be available on request for this conversion.

We offer a full fitting and painting service or we can supply only, we also ship worldwide, so get in touch today for further details on this little box of wide body goodness.
