It’s been a busy few weeks of late hence the lack of blog posts and believe us it’s not for the lack of material to talk about as we have so much to share, it’s purely down to man power and not enough hours in the day, but seeing our good friends dream build hit the track in anger was just too not to blog about, as days like this rarely happen in the UK scene, so let us take one meticulously put together GTR, the living legend that is Hiroshi Tamura, who happens to be the chief product specialist of Nissan's mighty GTR, basically he is the brains behind the R35, want to read more…we thought you would.

Unleashing that 1000+ BHP at Silverstone shake down

We got to know Anthony Gaylard the owner of this special GTR LM1-RS back in 2015 as we had a mutual problem with the supplier Dominik Bahn of Carbostuff Engineering, (which you can read all about in our other blog news) we have stayed in touch since and I have personally followed his build over the last couple of years, and wow he has put together one amazing road legal monster, as I have said this is one meticulously built machine and one that he hopes will get him a sub 7 minute time at the green hell they call the Nordschleife, yep the Nurburgring, which is the main reason this car has been constructed, the car has been built to have the best of everything available, no expense spared, built by craftsmen, and of course a huge wad of cash, this is what we call at VAD a man’s GTR.

At VAD we are all about high quality, it’s in our DNA and there isn't a day that goes by that we aren't disappointed with the GTR scene, seeing many being stripped of all the OEM Nissan parts, then adding mass produced Chinese manufactured wet laid Carbon junk, which is mostly glass fibre with a thin layer of carbon, which is then highly glossed for effect, bonnets, fenders, rear wings, etc, its painful, but unfortunately it’s all part and parcel of any scene including the GTR, so for me personally Anthony’s build is a refreshing change, seeing it fitted with proper high quality light weight carbon fibre parts inside and out, were pleased to say no Chinese crud on this build, just top end parts for a top end GTR, pure carbon fibre made just how it should be, in the autoclave.

The parts list for the build is simply sensational, its mouth-watering, you can see the endless search for parts perfection, and why wouldn't it be, chasing that sub 7-minute time at the Nordschleife is no easy task, hence the reason I keep seeing the huge ££££ every time I read through the list of parts its taken to build this epic machine, which makes the hairs on my whole body stand on end, this is a serious build, I love love every detail, as well as the overall concept.

The pictures attached are from the Silverstone test and shake down of the car, which Mr, Hiroshi Tamura attended, and im gutted we didn’t attend, as the pictures of the car on track look phenomenal.

We cannot wait to follow the car on its epic journey chasing the lap.

They say something good comes out of something bad and maybe we have something to thank for our mutual misfortunes, meeting good people whilst enjoying great builds, kudos Anthony you have built a stunner, bring on the Nordschleife, I personally can't wait.

Its been a while since we have had any news on this amazing looking GTR, but looking at the latest set of pictures, its been worth the wait. The owner Ben of BPA Body shop has been extremely busy, so his personal pride and joy unfortunately had to take a back seat, something we can relate to with our own build, when you are a small business you have to prioritise, and your own personal get put together as and when.

We have been waiting so long for someone to build a white GTR with our wide body and Ben didn't disappoint, its breath taking finish is a credit to his craft, its impeccable, and he has a great eye for attention to detail, with the Nismo 2015 red pinstripe being added to the bottom half of the kit, along with a carbon bonnet with exposed carbon vents, the black roof and black diffuser, splitter and side skirts, he really did hit the sweet spot on the overall look of the car, some people don’t seem to like the black stripe in between the rear lights, but we do, its different and its nice to see someone thinking outside of the usual GTR box.

The engine is heavily modified, albeit we have no idea what changes have been made, all we know is its had certain tuned modifications, so it should be plenty quick enough for most peoples speed needs.

Its all be finished off with some gloss black VAD CR EVO in 12x21 front and 13x21 rear, wrapped in 355/25R21 Pirelli Rubber.

We said when this car was started to be constructed that it was going to turn out pretty special, and it really hasn't disappointed, it’s a credit to Ben and his team, and were extremly please there is yet another VAD wide body GTR on UK roads.

We have been discussing the prospect of a GT3 road going GTR for a while now, but as most ofyou that read our blog will know, we hit a few problems, some of which are still ongoing, so we shelve the idea, as it wasn’t worth the hassle or aggravation, as well as the cost of lost funds in the process, which we are still fighting to get back through the legal channels, but lets cover that in another blog post, as this post is all about a build we have longed to do and be involved with, and we are happy to say it’s all systems go.

We have said it before and we will say it again, the GTR in GT3 form is the pinnacle wide body, everything else for us falls short, even our own VADZILLA, this for us is the Numero Uno, the ultimate GTR in wide body form, and were excited.

Amber Performance Seibon GTR

After returning from our German trip it was time to assess the situation with our business associates Amber Performance, as the proprietor Jason Hawes 2009 award winning Seibon GTR has been sitting at the LA Paints body shop in Milton Keynes for over 12 months waiting for the new GT3 body panels which didn’t arrive and won't be any time soon, so plan B was put into operation which was to fit Jason's GTR with the VAD carbon wide body programme, so with that organised it was time to spec the wheel build with design and required finish, we already knew the build would run a 21” set up, as the 345/25R21 have been sitting around gathering dust for the last 7 months at Amber HQ.

Scouring the net for a few race wheel ideas, we stumbled across an eBay posting for a used GTR GT3 race kit, with a bit of negotiation, Jason was able to secure the kit, with every part needed to complete the build, the parts were originally purchased for a time attack GTR build, which we are happy to say didn’t materialise, which has made our year, we can tell you that Jason & Lee havent stopped grinning.

The car has already had the engine removed a while ago for a serious upgrade in the power department, so LA paints gave the engine bay its first few coats of paint, the colour we will reveal at the time of launch, it will certainly get people talking, so it will be left in the capable hands of Lee Ayre of LA Paints, who is in control of bringing this beast to life.

Now to the wheels of choice, with the original planned build hitting problems, the original idea of fitting the VAD CR-Evo has changed, simply because it’s become a quite popular design of wheel and this build demands something new and fresh, and with the all new Trafficstar forged range going into production, the 5 spoke STR in concave profile is the design that Jason has decided on, with matte black centres, gloss black outer rims and inner barrel, with copper hardware, in size 13x21, we also looked at the the OZ race wheel design, but the Trafficstar brand just made more sense.

We will keep the blog updated along with our Instagram and Facebook page, so keep an eye out for pictures in build, cant wait for launch day .
