New to our line up from the Avant Garde cast range is the M610 / M615 / M621 / M652 from the Advanced Rim Technology (ART) line up.

Available for most 5 stud applications in staggered widths in sizes 19” and 20” with 11x20 and 12x20 also available as an option in deep concave profile, with the normal AG finish options available on request.

The A.R.T line up combines the usual monoblock cast wheel technology, but with a spin forming technology to drastically improve the material property and strength of the wheel.

The A.R.T process impacts the micro structure of aluminum by utilising three hydraulic rollers to apply pressure to form the inner rim area. The rollers move down the barrel applying pressure to compress, stretch, and form the entire wheel barrel producing optimal weight savings while improving material strength. This process actually alters the grain of the aluminum to produce a wheel barrel that is significantly lighter with enhanced strength comparable to fully forged wheels. A.R.T helps also reduce the weight up to 25% when compared to a normal standard cast wheel through this finer and more even aluminum structure. M615 weights for 20” sizes start at 23 lbs/wheel.

Carbostuff, Fraud & Deception Warning.

Carbostuff or Carbostuff Engineering (one of the same) are up to the same old theft & deception antics that they were up to with former company CCD Motorsport, only this time it’s a larger than ever.

We want share our own experience with the Automotive world, and hopefully Mr Bahn will one day be brought to justice and serve his time in a prison cell, we are currently working with our local Fraud squad and also our Lawyer to make sure our funds are returned, as it’s been 14 months since he relieved us of our funds for parts ordered, but not just us but one our Business associates Jason Hawes owner of Amber performance, combined value of around €40,000 euro, this along with a further €160,000 mounts up to a considerable amount of cash, for doing absolutely nothing.

Dominik Bahn, the owner has been repeatedly chased since May of 2015, by us and Amber Performance with regards the whereabouts of the parts, the excuses have ranged from:

“DHL have rerouted your delivery to Russia”

“Delivery on route but it’s been lost”

“Im on vacation in Dubai, my staff will organise (he works alone)

“I have to finish work for Broemmler Motorsport”

“The Russian Customer has threatened him to complete his work before anyone else”

The worst excuse of all is “one of my children has passed away, so I can’t talk for a few days” , whilst typing this to us on his Whats app conversation, also taking an order for a Bentley GT GT3 kit at the same time from our entrusted colleagues in China for a Bentley GT3 kit that he doesn’t have or own.

We have also heard recently how he told a customer he could not discuss his order for a few weeks, because he was under Chemotherapy, and he has to recover, well that same cusomer didnt receive his parts, or his refund, basically this guy will think of anything and stope at nothing to keep your money and not send you the parts you have paid for, so it’s important that this is shared amongst our community and the motoring trade, especially the tuning world.

We have every email and whats app conversation documented from the very start of our business, some of which we will be posting, merely to show the world that Dominik Bahn is one of the biggest con artist in this industry, he has collected serious amounts of people hard earned cash and kept it for his own personal gain, I guess it’s a case of why work when you can get money for free.

Some people might be thinking why hand over all that cash for the parts upfront, and to be honest it’s a fair question, but this is standard policy within the industry, we now work with one of the best composite companies, and it’s no different, apart from one huge difference, you actually get what you have paid for, its custom work, not an off the shelf part, so it has to be paid for in full, this is why no alarm bells ring when payment is asked for, especially when you have an email stating 6 to 8 weeks delivery.

VAD & Amber Performance are not alone in people / companies being scammed by Dominik Bahn, we have met a few people that have also come out of the woodwork with the same story, handing over their cash, with no return, we know of one person who has given him over £100k and has had a hood, we also have been speaking with Anthony Gaylard, who has a list of over 20 odd people all with the same story.

He advertises on all of the global motorsport network sites, so some people may not be aware of his scam, one company recently from Australia was warned just in time before handing over $80,000, so its worth sharing the information.

VAD

Since the internal restructure of VAD at the start of 2015 the company has grown immensely, finding new direction in the way we have gone about our business. The company made some terrible decisions in the early years, taken mainly by a certain member of the team, the company looked great from the outside, but unfortunately it’s was a bit of a mess on the inside, I think the whole global industry will remember the RWB fiasco, let’s face it who hasn't, it's a topic that I want to personally discuss in finer detail over the coming weeks, there is a story to tell and it’s about time the truth was told, but this blog post isn’t about the past it's about the present and the future.

At the start of 2015 with the changes in place, losing the in-house paint facility of the company set us back a few months, losing various Porsche aero parts, namely the 993 and the Cayenne was no huge loss, and if im honest a huge relief, it was tarnished and still is, it bought the company and the brand nothing but hassle and aggravation, so it was time to get back to basics, after all VAD are renowned forged wheel specialists and we have been for the past 15 years, servicing the trade whilst recently opening the doors to the public domain, so it wasn’t difficult for the company to refocus and get back to doing what we do best, build and sell custom forged wheels.

The demand for aero parts was still huge, especially the GT3 aero programme we had advertised and promoted throughout 2014, and although the parts we were able for us to source and were beautifully manufactured, its worth remembering they are a race part, so the fit and finish for a road car application is like chalk and cheese, as we found out they fit where they touch, something we wouldn’t be happy selling or fitting to the world’s elite brands, so it was time to rethink and make a plan.

First of all the search was on for us to find a paint specialist that we could work with, advertising an in-house painting facility isn’t worth promoting if your work is substandard, and i would rather work side by side with companies that offer me a unique high quality service, that can then complement what we do, this is when I came across Adam Barmby and his composite company BAMD.

Those of you that read the VAD blogs will know all about how VAD and BAMD came together and what projects we have worked on, along with whats planned for the future, we both share the same quality core values, fit and finish is paramount if you are putting your name to it, as you can see from the attached pictures it’s quite evident that Adam is completely anal when it comes to finish and attention to detail.

This particular 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera is a credit to him, showing his capabilities as a car builder, every nut and bolt has been either changed or upgraded, with some crazy one off bespoke touches, I particularly like the petrol cap that’s recessed into the front bonnet, it’s a real touch of craftsmanship, the interior of this beauty is as clean as the exterior, as is the underside and engine bay, this is one meticulously put together machine, a job he's immensely proud of, who wouldn't be.

So what's next for the Aspect-GT brand. Well with enquiries coming in thick and fast from all over the world, a full carbon fibre Ferrari 458 Curseive GT3 in the planning stages, along with our new Audi R8 Ultra –R, along with our own Z4 V8 GT3 build, as well as a bit of aero enhancement to the all new 991 Porsche GT3-RS model, it’s going to be a very busy year, and as we have always said at VAD… Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort and skillful execution, a slogan we can both relate to.
