For the past few months, we have been involved in a rather exciting GTR build, that GTR belongs to our good friend Anthony Gaylard, most GTR, in fact, most car enthusiasts will know all about Anthony's rather epic GTR and his 2017 assault around the famous green hell, the Nordschleife, aka, the Nurburgring, with the guys from Lichfield Automotive and their push to crack the 14.2-mile circuit in under 7 minutes which they achieved.

Although we are privy to the build, we cannot report much at the moment, as the build is being kept well under wraps, plus we have been sworn to secrecy, but what we can talk about is the GTR will be running some of our carbon fibre aero goodies along with our Forged Magnesium 2-piece wheel.

The wheel measures 12.5" in width and 21" in diameter, offsets are bespoke for the build, but we need aggressive offsets to fill out the extra 4" of width front and rear that the new parts give, so we are pleasantly surprised at the wheel coming in just under the 11 kg in weight, the benefit of using magnesium forged wheels.

12.5x21 Forged Magnesium Wheel

Not only do magnesium wheels weigh significantly less than a forged aluminium wheel, the weight is merely the starting point, forged magnesium wheels have superior benefits over aluminium forged wheels, which also include a lower unsprung rotating mass, a lighter wheel is much easier to spin and to stop, due to a lower momentum of inertia, improved acceleration, shorter stopping distance, better handling, longer life for brakes, tyres and all suspension components, as well as better braking efficiency, magnesium wheels also allow for faster heat dissipation which prevents overheating of the wheel and tyre assembly.

This is one GTR we cannot wait to share with the world so if you wish to follow the launch then check back in for updates as they happen next week when the car is released and goes racing.

Our Magnesium forged wheels are available in a huge range of sizes, 18" 19" 20" 21" with a huge range of widths, finishes and applications, we also offer a hybrid 2 piece wheel with forged magnesium centre and a carbon fibre barrel, please get in touch with us for more details on our line up and what we can do for your road or track vehicle.

M Speed R34 GTR

As a company, we are always looking for standalone products that can sit alongside our own product that we produce, and sometimes we like to revisit the old products from yesteryear, especially the ones that slipped under the radar. A conversion that stands out that we frequently look back at is the beautiful conversion that was offered by M Speed Japan for the R34 Nissan GT-R, this was a wide body in its finest form, and one we still admire some 10 years later, and although the R34 has now reached cult status the pricing on the GTR has gone well north, some of the prices we have come across are just plain crazy, but as with all the Japanese 90’s super cars they are all turning into a collectors dream with prices soaring.

There is always people that are going to be into modifying and for the very few that would actually put their R34 under the knife, this wide body dry carbon goodness is still available. So what aero parts do you need to convert your standard R34 GTR into this immense track GT500 inspired widebody beast: Front bumper, front splitter, bumper canards, brake duct, wider front vented fenders, side rockers, rear quarter panels, rear bumper.

Option extras include a rear diffuser, rear wing assembly, side exhaust, carbon fibre dash. added to this we can offer lightweight forged or magnesium wheels, coilover suspension, as well as other tuning options that are available.

The kit has never been exported outside of Japan, so if you fancy turning your R34 into a track inspired race GTR, then get in touch and we will make it happen.

The M Speed Nissan R34 GTR Wide Body

Back in April Derrick Nowell and his company APAC (Auto Performance Aesthetics Centre) took delivery of the VAD GT1 wide body aero kit for his very own GTR build, as most car enthusiasts will know especially the GTR scene APAC have been building some really cool looking GTR's for a while now, putting their own unique style and touch on Liberty Walk and Rocket Bunny kitted wide body GTR's, smoothing and blending the riveted kits with their renowned paint skills has made for some pretty mouth watering GTR's, so when Derrick got in touch we were pretty excited by the possibility of what they could do with our very own wide body. and boy oh boy they have smashed it.

As reported in our last blog post about the build we knew it was going to be a bit special, as we had been privy to the colour the GTR would be painted, albeit this was changed half way through the build process, we also knew the wheel design and colour, so its been very difficult for us to keep it all a under wraps, secret squirrel is very difficult for us as the excitement can some time take over, we generally cant hold our own water.. but we have surpassed ourselves this time round and kept it buttoned.

The quality off this build is another level, the paint finish is sublime, and the colour is just gives that wow factor, especially mated with those 20" RS-1 by RSV forged, the anthracite finish with the gold studs just work so well with the Verde Ithaca green, so fresh.

The touches we love, that draw us in, the use of the exposed carbon fibre that adorns the bonnet, roof and boot lid, all finished in high gloss clear coat, then there is the black Newton race fuel cap, Derrick could of fitted his OEM fuel door cap as the kit is designed to use the OEM mechanism, which would of been the easiest choice, but we get the feeling these boys do not do easy way and its all about the details, its such a lush combination.

So with the body work done, Derrick will be turning his attention to the interior, we have no idea what he has planned, but if the exterior is anything to go by, it will be tasteful and ooze quality.

This is one GTR build that is going to stand the test of time, the quality of finish, the parts used and the quality of build is going to make sure this GTR will be a huge draw where ever the APAC team take it.

We are really proud of this build, Derrick has surpassed what we expected, and with these boys being part of the VAD family its sure to be the first of many, get in touch with them for any VAD related product, and let them show you their world of ... QUALITY
