We have said it before and we will say it again, we get to work with some incredible people all over the world and this time we are in one of our favourite countries in the world, Japan with our good friend Sho Kobayashi from Kanagawa and it’s a build we have wanted to do in Japan for so long as we know how well received the Porsche brand is in the Japanese scene, you only have to look at RWB to see the following this company has with their Porsche creations.

It was October 2020 when Sho reached out about our carbon wide body aero kit for his race going Cayman and with a few emails exchanged it wasn’t long before one was being manufactured, boxed up and shipped out for Sho to start working his magic.

It was only when we got to see the latest images that we had a small heart failure, as Sho had ordered our 981 Cayman wide body aero package, but was fitting it to his all new Cayman 718 4-cylinder new shape beauty, after checking he confirmed that we did in fact order the kit knowing and that alterations would need to be made around the front and rear lights, and we are very pleased to confirm the modifications are minimal, so we will now be offering this aero kit for the all-new 718 chassis with modifications of course.

Well it seems the car is not far away from being completed and we will soon get to show the world his new show stopper as he is going racing with no other than RWB’s Nakai-San who will be in his all new 997 Turbo race car “Notting Hill” so very much one to watch out for and we will bring you all the updates to this show stopping build.

Just as we were finishing up this blog post we had a chat with a good friend who we have collaborated with before and he has just ordered his kit for a winter build, so we don’t just have one epic Porsche Cayman build happening we have two beauties to look forward two.

Our Porsche aero range seems to grow week by week as we constantly update our range and one chassis we have always looked at doing something with is the Cayman and Boxster, the older 987 generation seem to have an array of body styling, some bad and some worse, the most popular seems to be the Rocket Bunny which is about the best of a bad bunch, so we decided to look at styling for the model but the slightly later 981 chassis as this is the best looking one of them all in our opinion, and there seems to be very little or very limited aero kits available on the market for this particular year and model of Cayman.

Like most of our kits the Cayman RSR aero is a wide body programme that we produce in light weight in carbon fibre as well as woven cloth GRP, we appreciate that not everyone can stretch to the more expensive and desirable carbon fibre option, so we have a slightly cheaper priced GRP cloth option which still has the benefit of being super lightweight and a very strong product as its manufactured the same way as our carbon fibre product is made.

The kit consists of the following parts, with a huge list of optional extras also available on request.

Front bumper, front splitter with front floor, bumper and fender extensions, side skirts, rear over fenders, rear bumper with 991 GT3R bumper grills, rear diffuser.

The optional extras include: forged wheels in forged aluminium or super lightweight forged magnesium can also be ordered on request, in 19” or 20” sizes with a 10” front wheels and 13” rear wheel required to fill the extended bodywork, Bilstein coilover suspension, GT3R rear wing assembly, carbon fibre doors, arch liners front and rear with a bespoke exhaust system also available to order.

We have a build about to start in Lebanon and a full UK build that is about to kick off over the next few weeks and the UK build we are really looking forward to as it will be fully documented by our good friend Matt Clifford who will build the first UK Cayman RSR… we can’t wait for these builds to start.

A few months back we gave a little insight into our RSR styled wide body for the Porsche Cayman 981 Chassis, and its been pretty well received.

The kit is only available in carbon at the moment but over the coming months we will possibly introduce a GRP version of the parts, but with the carbon fibre aero parts looking this good were just not really feeling the need for the GRP version, that is unless the demand was high.

So what does the conversion consist of and what is needed to turn a stock Cayman into this absolute epic machine you see here.

The front bumper is a carbon fibre GT4 style that is further enhanced by a complete under floor front splitter, we can also swap this out for a 991 RS Cup style set up which some people actually prefer. A set of front fender extensions, wide side rocker sills that blend into the wider rear quarter panels, that really do expand this little Cayman out to the maximum, this is then finished off with a 991 GT3R style rear bumper set up with the vented tuning veins sitting either side with a full rear floor diffuser set up with 6 strakes making up the rear end, a rear wing assembly can also be requested from the optional extras list.

To fill the huge arches, you need some pretty wide wheels and tyres, 11” width up front and 13” at the business end fitted with 275 and 345 tyres front and rear respectively, you can specify 18” 19” or 20” sizes from a range of forged 3 piece wheels we manufacture for this particular build, or super light weight magnesium wheels if you have the desire to build the ultimate track tool, top this off with a set of JRZ custom coilover suspension, centre exit stainless hybrid exhaust makes for one very serious looking Cayman.

The conversion is available now and we are taking orders for builds as well as offering the aero pack out for supply only, so if your Interested the world’s most aggressive light weight carbon fibre wide body for your Cayman 981, then get in touch for more details.
