Lots of excitement around the launch of Porsche incredible 935 that has been launched in homage to the 935/78 Moby Dick, and why not it’s a master piece, based on the incredible 991 GT2-RS chassis with 700hp at a cost of £750k with 77 pieces set to be produced, Porsche with yet another masterpiece for its 70th anniversary, but whilst everyone is drawn to the all-new 935, its made us appreciate the original homage to the amazing Porsche 935 ... the awe-inspiring Kremer Racing K3R.

We have covered this particular Kremer creation before back in January when we went to visit them in Germany, but we feel this car is worthy of a revisit, because as we have seen it in person we can confirm, it’s a complete master piece.

It was the brain child of Eberhard A. Baunach, owner of the modern day Kremer racing, he approached Holger Zimmerman of Zimspeed to create the modern day K3 based on the 997 chassis, Holger’s father Ekkehard Zimmermann owns DP Motorsport and pretty much built every original Kremer Racing 935 K3 body work and beat Porsche at their own game, so the history behind the build is pretty legendary, and to say that Holger created a master piece is such understated comment, up close and personal the car is just incredible, and considering they based this on the 997, the similarity to the older 930 cars is a testament to what he has created, seeing them both side by side you can see his creation is pretty spot on, considering it’s not only a different chassis but a different era.

Kremer Racing K3R

There are 2 base models at the moment, a track car and a road car, with a further 997 Turbo about to join the line-up and this is the one that we feel will launch the model right into the public eye. Big power and small modifications to allow a not only a wider wheel, but also a much larger tyre set up, as well as all the modification to help the air feed the rear inter coolers, its one car that we have seen take shape, but have been unable to discuss, but that’s all about to change.

It one car that we feel we just have to build for the UK market, we already have the theme we want to build it around, its just a case of clearing the decks and being given the Kremer green light.

One thing we love about what we do is meeting various people within our industry, from owners to enthusiasts, Videographers to Photographers, so it always good to me a fellow Porsche enthusiast as well as a talented Photographer, Lucas Dulski.

Porsche 997 Turbo-R

The Speedwells Porsche 997 Turbo-R

Lucas got in touch with us as he desperately wanted to see the Speedwells 997 Turbo-R up close and personal, but he wanted to shoot the Turbo-R too, and after taking a delve into his past work, we would have been silly not to let him indulge in his passion of taking photos of all things Porsche.

After organising and deciding on a date to suit all parties, Lucas took the drive down from Chester for his preferred night shoot and it’s a shoot we also wanted to try as the Turbo looks so sinister with its murdered out black look, which is about to change in the coming weeks, so we were intrigued to see how this shoot would turn out and it didn't disappoint, Lucas certain has skills behind the lens, with a meticulous attention to detail.

We had a very long but enjoyable evening shooting the Speedwells Turbo-R, starting in the heart of Solihull in Birmingham getting pictures as dusk fell, then driving around finding other cool locations to shoot the car, my personal favourite was a car park next to Touchwood shopping centre, it was such cool location as night time fell.

For anyone looking for a great photographer we can highly recommend Lucas, he knows exactly how a car should be pictured, all you have to do it bring your vehicle of choice and let him do what he does best which is getting creative, but don't take our word for it, check out his work on Facebook & Instagram pages. Until next time Lucas.

Over the past couple of years, we have seen the speedwells wide body aero kit for the Toyota Supra gather some momentum, since we have added the aero to our website we have had lots of interest, it helps when current owners like Lawrence Duckers are out and about with his amazing Black Wide Body, which seems to look better every time we see the car across various media platforms, Iby certainly built a stunner when he put this one together and it’s good to see that Lawrence is putting his own stamp on the build, adding more power with a turbo install, and we are sure there is more to come from this particular Supra.

There is a new build happening and we have been privy too and it’s a beauty, Sean Reid is the man responsible for yet another UK build and from what we have seen so far we are excited by this one.

Sean's Black Supra before the mods

The base car he sourced was from Ireland, a beautiful black example which before he purchased had just had a fresh coat of paint and it was a stunning example, many people would be asking why cut up a perfectly good base car, but when your friend is Iby from Speedwells it all starts to make sense, let’s just say when it comes to modifying cars he is a bad influence, and Sean himself is no stranger to the modified scene, his daily driver is a lowered Murdered out Audi Avant, sitting on super wide concave wheels , so the Supra didn't stand a chance of a standard life once it come into Sean’s life, but as we always say at VAD, a stock car is a boring car.

The reason this build caught our eye was colour choice, which is a classic Grey from the Porsche colour range, its very reminiscent to the Lamborghini Grigio Telesto or the Audi Nardo Grey, which we like, especially now this colour is adorned on his wide body Supra, this is one colour that will show off all of the details that can be hidden by a darker colour.

Sean's Build process of the Speedwells Wide Body Supra

A special build needs a special wheel and as reported in our previous email Sean has decided on our very own VAD VM1 mesh style design, its and old design now, but like all good mesh designs get them right and they are timeless, and this is one build we can wait to see fitted with our design.

Sean is a man after our own heart when it comes to colour for his wheel set up, as he is going with a matte black centre with gloss black barrels, chrome studs, in sizes 10.5x19 front and 13x19 rear, this is one beauty we just can’t wait to see all finished down the camera lens.
