The 8th & 9th of November will be a couple of days we remember quite fondly, as two builds that we have collaborated on took to the track in anger and we are pleased to say they did pretty well.

We have discussed David Haagsma on a few our our blog posts over the past few months as we have been watching his GTR come to life, Scott over at Sicchops being the man responsible for updating the look for the 2018 season fitting our aero kit and totally transforming the look, and with David's finishing touches we couldn't wait for him to hit the track and he didn't disappoint.

Considering its a new look its also a new set up, same amazing engine spec built by the GTR gurus SP Engineering, but a new JRZ suspension set up, along with new RPS Carbon brakes, and other bits of carbon aero to enhance the wider look David came 4th overall in the Super Battle class, and considering there is over 80 cars, thats pretty impressive, we are really looking forward to seeing the car back out in February 2019 next year when it competes at Circuit of the Americans ( COTA)

Another one of collaborations to hit the track which we must admit came as a bit of a surprise, albeit a nice one, the Sleepers Speed Shop Porsche 997 GT3R belonging to Chad Kobayashi, being driving at Buttonwillow by Tommy Contino, who managed a very respectable 7th in class.

We supplied the aero kit for this particular build back in January 2017, and its one we are quite fond of, the fact that we got to work with Len Higa the owner of Sleeper Speed Shop in California was a big pull for us as the company just ooze quality, and the fact that Len is so highly respected, so its always going to be a very special Porsche to us, the fact that Chad has just the very best in the way of parts on this 997 Turbo-R its the pinnacle.

We offer these aero kits for both the Nissan GTR and the Porsche 997 Chassis in various engine configurations, the 997R styling kit is only available in light weight carbon fibre, where as the Nissan GTR aero kit we manufacture in carbon fibre and also GRP, although our GRP is a woven cloth over the old school matt strand, so still a light weight and super strong product without the premium price of carbon.

Our parts for these conversions are extensive, we have our own JRZ or Bilstein suspension that is built to our own specification, big brake upgrades for the serious HP hunters as well as custom exhausts, which includes full bespoke inconel systems, wheels are another product we offer with forged aluminium, forged magnesium, with a magnesium and carbon fibre hybrid wheel also available for the customers looking for the pinnacle super light weight wheel product.

Get in touch with us if you like the look of any of these conversions for road or track use, we can supply all the parts to build as well get these cars put together, we work with a highly skilled teams that love nothing more than building these stunning creations.

For the UK market we have the Speedwells 997 Turbo-R thats under going some serious modification to not only the colour change but the power output too, so thats one to watch out for early next next, and we are also looking to get our own BMW Z4 GT3 V8 back on track, watch this space.

Global time attack builds and the costs to win must be enormous, just the engine side alone you have to invest crazy money, being does not mean much if you have not got the handling to match all that power, you need good suspension and good aero, which is why there is an increase on light weight aero parts, you only have to look at some of the creations of WTAC in Sydney Australia to see the cars just more radical every year, they look and sound crazy and they all have one aim... winning.

We have started to get more involved with the supply of our carbon parts over the last couple of years, we have a few Porsche 997 GT3R around the globe as well as a few Porsche 996 and one build we were extremely pleased y to be involved with was the amazing GTR of David Haagsma, we featured the car a few weeks back and its one very impressive build, the SP Engineering engine tune alone is the best part of $40,000, if not more, then you have the trick JRZ Suspension set up, carbon brakes and other radical areas of build, so when David came calling for our carbon fibre Ichiban aero kit, we were happy to get involved.

The kit consists of the usual suspects of body work you need to create the a wider look, so front and rear bumpers, front fenders rear quarters as the most popular panels supplied, our front splitter is the complete front floor, as is the rear diffuser, albeit David used an RHR diffuser than Scott from SicChops mated up to our rear bumper set up.

Another neat touch we love about David's GTR is the huge bonnet vents he has added to his Seibon standard look oem style carbon bonnet, they are huge and there are a lot of them which makes for a very angry looking front end, its very intimidating to look at, to finish off the aero David has added a huge rear wing assembly from the APR crew, with a set of 18" slicks complete the build.

We look forward to seeing David hit the track, and if previous years are anything to go by, then his competition should worry, as he will take some stopping when he finally gets out on circuit.

We are now looking to jump on-board with the Australian crew from The Lowdown and one of there friends and customers who are looking to put together one serious GTR for the WTAC next year, so our light weight Ichiban is now under consideration for the main aero parts for this crazy up and coming build.

A few months back we sent David Haagsma our full carbon GTR Ichiban aero kit as he had decided he wanted to upgrade the stock OEM look, it had all the go as he has been running the SP Engineering SPE800 tuning pack to devastating effect, well he is the consecutive GTA Time Attack champion, so with SP building the heart beat and brawn to this GTR, it was time for us to supply the carbon goodness.

SP Engineering Nissan GTR GT3

With the kit in David's possession at the beginning of the year it was time to deliver the car with all the parts to Scott Laitinen the owner of SicChops, and looking at Scott's work we can see why, his builds are just another level and seeing how the GTR turned out need we say more.

There is a lot of work involved getting these conversions to look how they should, with lots of fabrication needed, but the finished look is well worth all the effort, as David's finished GTR looks absolutely amazing, with some real neat touches from RHR Performance hood vents and the stunning functional rear diffuser, APR Performance rear wing assembly.

The car is now back at SP Engineering for some more updates, with widefab providing some of the suspension and chassis components and JRZ supplying the custom coilover suspension set up, all being fitted and tuned by the talented SP crew.

This is one build we have been really pleased to be involved with, David has used the best in the business to build this car and they haven't disappointed, the final touch which we absolutely love is the wrap of matt black with red detail which really do love, it just completes the look, especially with the 18" forged wheels and slick set up, with this GTR overhaul completed we just cant wait until it hits the track.

Big thank you to David for his custom, to SicChops for an amazing build, APR and RHR Performance for working in harmony with our carbon wide body, JRZ and Widefab for the suspension and to the SP Engineering crew who look after the power and the handling of this epic machine, we have been a keen follower of all their work for a while now, so its been great collaborating with them on this build.
