The Gen 1 BMW Z4 GT3 has been a very successful programme for us, so it seemed like a no brainer to introduce the Gen 2 which is a more aggressive looking conversion compared to the conversion it superseded, with lots of customers asking us what is different about the two conversions, so here is a little run down of the differences between them that most people do not see.

The first major change is up the front end with the front bonnet, it goes from two aerocatches to 3 and where the Gen 1 front flare cuts off aggressively exposing the rear part of the front tyre, the Gen 2 front flare blends back into the rear area of the hood, it’s also slightly wider than the Gen 1 set up, the Gen 2 is a smoother look, more aero dynamic, it’s also a wider to house the 12x18 front race wheel and 315/680R18 slick race tyre.

Another detail change was the side skirts, the gen 2 has the more aggressive sweep and a larger opening for rear brake cooling, it also has a neat little canard to aid with air flow and downforce, it’s a small detail but extremely effective, these sills feed into and make up part of the rear flare which is so much wider than the original Gen 1 set up, it just looks so much better at the rear from any angle, it’s such a muscular look which we prefer.

So what makes our conversion so different to the rest, well for starters we are the only company to offer the complete front and rear bumper grill sets, as well as grills for the hood vents we also offer the authentic Gen 2 rear wing assembly with the dual blades, end caps, gurney, supports with quick release fixings.

Over the last few days we have been in conversation with Jon Olsson, chatting about various cars and builds and to say he is infectious is an understatement, he has got us looking into our next build more vigorously, and now we are looking at every detail of the build, in microscopic detail, what have you done to us Jon.

Our 991R project is still in the early stages, but it’s this stage we love, putting all the details together of the build, who we will work with on various components, who we will collaborate with, we already know lots of people that will assist us with the direction we wish to go on this one, as we have made plenty of mistakes in the past, we will not make those mistakes on this build.

We will be working with JRZ on the suspension side with this build, we should have worked with them on the 997 Turbo –R & BMW Z4 GT3 V8, but Bilstein were really good to us on those builds so it was a bit of a no brainer, and they are such an awesome company to work with, and they are local which was an added bonus, but with the 991R we will are really looking forward to working with the Porsche suspension gurus JRZ, when it comes to handling perfection these boys are the best.

The body work will be our usual raw carbon fibre; the colour is yet to be decided but yellow is a very strong contender at the moment, but knowing us that could change. Exhaust will be built by our good friend Craig at Dynotorque, wheels we have chosen will be super lightweight magnesium forged 3 piece from our partners GT3RR, design will be the F1M in sizes and widths 12X20F & 14x20R, wrapped in Michelin 295/35R20 & 345/30R20 front & rear respectively.

Staying on the subject of wheels, we managed to get a sneak peek on Jon Olsson’s Audi 1000 BHP RS6 before it’s official launch a few days back we were drawn to the wheel choice Jon made for this RS6 build and it looks radical, like nothing else on the market and we love that, Jon has always had a great eye for a wheel and this choice has inspired us, Brixton Forged did one hell of a job on the design and manufacture and although we have our own wheel design locked in, we also want to run with a different look from time to time which has made us revisit D-LNG, the Turbofan maestros.

We reached out to Steve the owner of D-LNG a couple of years back when our BMW Z4 GT3 V8 was in its early stages, but we had a change of direction on the build and felt they wouldn’t be the right look for the Z4 GT3 styling, but for the Porsche it’s the perfect look and as racing history has shown the Porsche brand wears them well, and with Steve now working on his all new Gen concave 3D printed designs, this build just has to have them, more updates will follow when the build starts, 2020 just seems to getting better month by month.

The Nissan GTR has been a huge part of our aero line for the last few years, dating back to 2012 when we constructed what must have been one of the very first carbon fibre wide body GTR packages, fitted with 13x21 forged 3 piece VAD VF1 wheels 345/25R21 tyres, Meister coilover suspension, all finished off with 680 HP engine upgrade and titanium exhaust, we certainly arrived in style even if we do say so ourselves.

The VAD Wide Body Nissan GTR

Various builds of the VAD Wide Body GTR

As soon as that particular GTR hit the streets it sold almost straight away, in 2013 we constructed a second Carbon fibre wide body GTR, this time round we painted it purple, it was around this time we parted company with the Wellingborough body shop as that GTR again found a new owner, over the last few years we have honed the parts and grew the carbon range whilst adding a new wide body aero pack in the form of our favourite GT3 style, the style that dates back to the 2013 / 2014, with the functional and aggressive vents that adorn most of the panels fitted to the GTR, this for us is the ultimate GTR and we have most parts available in carbon fibre as well as woven roving with is a cloth based fibre glass, which is a super light and super strong material that is a cheaper option than the carbon fibre material that the kit is available in.

As well as the main aero panels, we also have a few race options that we have listed as extras, with all of the race parts they are only available in carbon fibre.

Replace carbon fibre roof, front bumper canards, Vented GT3 style bonnet, light weight GT3 Style boot lid with rear wing assembly, supports, wing & end plates, light weight carbon doors with quick release hinges.

To ass to our GTR line up we have a range of super lightweight magnesium wheels in 18” 19” & 20” sizes in 1, 2 & 3 piece with a super hybrid carbon fibre barrelled, magnesium centre 2-piece wheel.

Inconel exhaust and special coilover suspension from the JRZ stable ..2020 may be the time we build another road going GTR, this one will be big and better than our previous builds … it’s time for the Ichiban GT3 VAD GTR

A selection of our road and race carbon fibre parts for the Nissan GTR, we are currently working on MY17 to MY20 Carbon Fibre parts for 2020 so get in touch for furthe rdetails of our ever expanding range for Nissans finest.
