We adore the BMW Z4 GT3 its one of the all time best looking and sounding GT3 cars of all time, we may be a little bias as we are constructing our own road going homage to this little bundle of joy that will be launched this summer, but you only have to look at it to appreciate that BMW designed and built an absolute stunner, I defy anyone that wouldn't get excited around this car, the look and the noise is intoxicating and addictive, we cant wait until our own machine hits the streets.

The BMW Z4 in GT3 disguise is no longer racing in the FIA Blancpain endurance series, its been replaced by the M6 GT3, so there have been plenty of Z4 on the market up for sale with most of them finding there way to other racer series, with some even cropping up at hill climb racing, especially the Italian run hill climb series.

Our good friend Frank Capo who is based in Victoria Australia has decided to put his own beloved Z4 GT3 up for sale and this particular example is an absolute stunning machine, with all of the right bits fitted and stunning exposed carbon fibre panels, with lots of new parts with lots of extra spare race parts available with the sale.

At the turn of every year we have the ultimate dilemma, do we attend the Performance car show at the NEC Birmingham or head to Japan for the Tokyo Auto Salon, this year Birmingham won.

We headed down on Thursday which is the first day with our good friend Iby from Speedwells, its the first of the press days which is not so busy, so you get to do and see a lot more, which is a bonus if like us you want some good pictures and you want to document the day.

As per the usual, you have the show split over various halls if you include the live arena you have 5 and the one we always like to head to first is the parts hall, which then leads on to the modified vehicle hall.

The modified hall had some fantastic vehicles on display, with our good friends from Kream Developments who had an array of cars all built in house, from their modified wide body GTR, to Kash's very own very unique Bentley GT, we particularly liked the rose gold wrap that caresses the Bentley panels, its impeccably finished and quite possibly the best wrap we have seen to date, as with most wrapped cars any close up inspection reveals the odd imperfection here and there, but not on this GT, it really is that good.

Our personal paint favourite was the matte Purple wide body GTR, the paintwork is second to none with a beautiful contrast of gloss and matt purple with exposed tinted purple carbon, we can only imagine the time and the patience the guys have taken over this particular build, the man hours must be in the hundreds, kudos to the Kash, Shabs and their team as they have worked hard to get where they are. Liberty Walk, Yannimize, Urban Automotive, Nero Design, and Cannon Ball Run all had great stands with some amazing machines, some with various wheel displays from the usual brands cut and past brands.

Plush Automotive Audi RS6 Full Carbon Fibre

It was good to finally catch up with our friends build Plush Automotive and his amazing carbon clad RS6, Luke has a habit of building some absolute stunners inside and out and this really was something rather special, although this particular Plush mobile has been sold for a while now, incredible work.

Porsche had us in a frenzy as it was the first time we have got up close and personal with both the all-new 935 and the amazing 991.2 2018 RSR, with the RSR being our personal favourite, what a machine, Porsche really do know how to design and build a beautiful put together race car, the RSR is just perfect from every viewing point.

Another stand that had us reminiscing was the ford stand, the Mk1 Escort and the Zakspeed Capri had us drooling, both old School works of art that we would have in a heartbeat, just both really cool builds, with some very special Mk2 Mexico, RS1800 and some traditional RS Sierra Cosworth's on display, ford were out in serious modified numbers and there wasn't one we wouldn't want to own.

A stunning collection of old school Fords on display

Another car that caught the eye was the i-pace from Jaguar, beautiful to look at especially with the all new fender flares and pumped up more aggressive styling race package, it really was a looker and one we cannot wait to see hitting the track, the wider track, larger wheels, livery and colour made it look very special, especially over the road going version.

A huge selection of current and old race cars were also on display with the full exposed carbon fibre BMW Z4 GT3 in all its glory which for us stole the show for obvious reasons

We really enjoyed the show this year, with a huge range of various cars on display from old school race or rally cars to full modern custom builds, new and old super cars, with Shmee 150 bringing his epic McLaren Senna along for the live show, until next year.

As we are building our very own BMW e89 chassis Z4 GT3 racer for the road we are always interested in other people builds from around the world, we know there are a couple of builds happening in the USA for SEMA 2018 and from what we have seen so far they have taken the same route of every other road going Z4 GT3, that route is the the easy route which is to manipulate the fenders front and rear to bring the arch gap closer to the tyre, its not something we personally dislike, but its no something we are looking to do in our own build, but we much prefer to go down the same path as Robert Šenkýř and his beautifully prepared BMW Z4 road going GT3.

BMW Z4 GT3

There is a lot of fabrication involved in building the Z4 GT3. its not a plug and play, just to fit a nice chunky tyre up front calls for modifications and fabrication, as the head lights get in the way, so lots of work in this particular area, you then have the suspension, there is not a system on the shelf that will work with this conversion, you have to work with custom manufactured units, we have the perfect coilover suspension set up now after months and months of development, wheel and tyre are also a critical part of this conversion, so lots to look into before you dive in and buy the cheapest kit you can find on the market.

Its been an extremely long process for us and we still have a way to go, but its been a pretty big challenge and now we know what it entails the next build will be so much quicker, its not just the bodywork for us, we have also had the task of installing the V8, which is not as straight forward as people think, we wanted to go down the E65 V8 engine install route, but our budget at the time would only allow us to look at the LS3 V8, which has been some extra work configuring the BMW iDrive with the LS engine, but when you have people like Emerald M3D they take the pain out of the electronic side of the conversion, and we are extremely pleased with the outcome of the build, especially the engine side of this conversion.

As we have found out building a couple of Motorsport GT conversions for the road, with the Ferrari 458, Nissan GTR GT3 and the Porsche GT3R, the aero is designed for track use, so for road use you need to make necessary fabrication to make this road friendly along with the other fundamentals, of the chassis modifications, wheel and tyre choice, once you get this recipe correct then you have one sublime road going GT3 styled stunner.

There are 2 styles of GT3 for the Z4. the first evolution of the conversion, this is seems is a kit that is available from various people around the world, we have seen them all and we can honestly say its a mine field, so do your home work. In 2013 BMW gave the aero a tweak, this is classed at the 2013+ kit and this is he one to have, its wider and a much better look and conversion, but only available in carbon fibre, which seems to put a lot of customers off, as the price of the kit is pretty much the price of the car, but when you consider the original race cars are being sold on the used race car market for £150k+ for one with a hard life and £170k+ for the best example, but they are not road legal and can only be driven on the track, so when they then consider the price of the base car, the kit, wheels tyres, suspension, fitting and painting and its road legal its well worth the investment, roll of 2019.

BMW Z4 GT3

So what is needed to build the ultimate BMW Z4 GT3 look road car, its a build you can make as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be, we have taken our build to the next level, as we wanted the brutal V8 sound track to match those muscular good looks.

The aero kit consists of the following parts:

Front bumper, front splitter, front canards, vented bonnet ( Hood) side fenders, side skirts, rear quarter panels, rear bumper, rear diffuser, rear bumper mesh, Front bumper mesh.

Optional extras:

Rear boot mounted wing assembly ( 2x carbon Blades, 2x wing supports, 2x end plates, plus fixings, 3 piece forged wheels with ultra high performance tyres in sizes 10x19 > 265/35R19 Front sizes 13x19 > 345/30R19 rear sizes, custom coilover suspension.

We can also take on full builds to include a full V8 engine installation, LS3, LS7 or S65 if required.

get in touch with us today to discuss your individual requirements, for your ultimate road going BMW Z4 road going GT3.
