We have been looking at the Liteblox product for a while now, but for some reason that all we had been doing, looking an admiring, but after a conversation with one of our customers in Texas who is building one of our carbon fibre GTR GT3 conversions we decided to get in touch to discuss the build and see what they could do for us … and I must say, why on earth didn’t we do it sooner, because the product is absolutely amazing.

For our GTR build they recommended their LB28XX The flagship high performance carbon fibre battery, in a thermally & mechanically decoupled CFK housing with implemented bracket, intelligent electronics with integrated, active kill-switch, it really is a work of art.

If you are thinking of reasons to upgrade to a liteweight carbon battery, lets assist with what this epic battery has to offer apart from the crazy weight savings over a normal car battery, these are just some of the amazing features this battery has to offer.

1, huge weight saving over a standard battery, saves 17-22kg (38-48lbs) to a standard starter battery

2, Plug’n’play replacement – fit for hardly any production car

3, Wireless interface for wireless data monitoring via Smartphone App

4, Maintenance-free due to intelligent BMS-System (over-/undervoltage, over-/undertemperatur, overcurrent & short ciruit)

5, Innovative & smart electronics for kill-switch via Smartphone App in two different programs: 1.) I.K.O.S. – Intelligent Kill-Operation-Switch: effective disconnection of the LITE↯BLOX from the vehicle due to overload or via Smartphone (emergency or extended sitting periods), similar to the common FIA kill-off switch 2.) A.V.A.T. – Active Vehicle Anti Theft:

6, while all consumers are still being provided with energy, the LITE↯BLOX will instantly shut down at any theft attempt

7, latest premium cell technology (A123 ANR26650M1B V3)

8, rapid charging (optimal für Start-Stop)

9, marginally self-drain when not in use (sitting time >250days)

10, fail safe due to innvative concept and premium materials

11, DMSB homologated (Lithium Ion battery RLB2016-27/17)

12, tested in professional motorsport

The fact its a carbon battery along with the weight saving alone make it worth the upgrade but a must have for any carbon fibre junkie, but with all he other features it really is a must have.

Get in touch with us for more details on this amazing product, and watch out for Davids install on his GTR GT3 road racer thats coming soon.

We have been involved with the Speedwells wide body Supra programme for some time now, and it’s been selling well on a global scale which is fantastic for the brand and the conversion, but what gets us really excited is a home grown build and we have two beauties both coming to the end of the process, this particular post is all about the beautiful Supra that our good friend Sean Reid has put together, and this is one that we have simply fell in love with, the metal up close and personal this car is simply breathtaking.

Sean Reid and his stunning Speedwells wide body Toyota Supra

The car isn’t 100% complete, but for the last few months we have been pushing Sean to get the bodywork finished so at least we could shoot the car, and it just goes to show if you give someone enough ear ache, things get done because the Supra was prepared and finished last week ready for our photoshoot, it still need some interior finishing, along with some tuning parts for the engine side of the conversion, but the body work is absolute perfect.

We have seen pictures of Seans car in the build process, but this is the very first time we have actually got to see the car in the flesh and the colour is just beautiful, one of our favourites so far for the Speedwells conversion, the Porsche slate grey suits this car and the lines to perfection and its great to see a new colour on a speedwells widebody Supra.

The chosen location is in Hall Green Birmingham, which is pretty local to the Speedwells HQ, a location we had been discussing over the past couple of weeks with Iby, as he wants to shoot the Porsche 997R at this very location, so we couldn’t resist talking the Supra there, as you can see from the shoot the location turned out perfect.

Sean has so many beautiful details on this Supra with more on the way, we particularly like the halo front and rear light set up, along with the tinted front lenses, and as we said previously the Porsche slate grey colour is an absolute inspired choice, it suits the lines of the wider supra to perfection, its definitely one of our personal favourites and althugh its not the first time this colour has been used on a Supra build but it’s a first for this conversion.

We maybe a little bias but the wheel choice is also on point, it’s our own brand that adorns this build, you just cannot go wrong with a mesh style design, our Forged VM1 maybe some 7 years old now, but its still a beauty and Sean had made his mind up after seeing our old 997 RSR build back in 2013 that this was the wheel he just had to have, with 10.5x19 > 275/30R19 on the front and 13x19>315/30r19 on the rear, which fill the fenders to the maximum, finish in gloss black and matt black contrast to the centre and the inner and outer rims, finished off with polished hardware.

This is one supra we will revisit after the interior and engine upgrades have been completed, as this is one car that deserves all the attention its going to get, for now we are just going to drool over the pictures of this beauty.

So what is next for the Speedwells wide body … well we have white one that’s almost due for release from our friend up North, from the streets of Newcastle, yep we have yet another home grown UK build about to join the Speedwells family, more to follow on that build as we get updated.

Our BMW Z4 GT3 V8 took another step towards completion with the guys over at Next Level Automotive laying down the paint this last weekend, they were extremely secretive and then decided to video call us for our reaction of the freshly painted car, and we can honest say it’s turned out better than we had ever anticipated, it really blew us away. Only last week we were discussing the fact the car was about to go to the next stage and how we had turned the corner after deciding to work with our European Partners Next Level as when we were building in the UK it just stagnated, a none starter for one reason or another, we have our theory and reasons why the build didn’t get started and the company in question have theirs, unfortunately we will never agree with what we were told, we have decided not to give the subject any further airtime, as it’s just not worth the effort, we were warned well before we decided to take the Z4 there by various people, but we decided to ignore, so we only have ourselves to blame, so we move on and it’s another lesson learned, the good thing is we don’t have to work with them again now or in the foreseeable future, so that’s a blessing.

So back to our Z4 GT3 V8 build and the fact we are not too far away from actually driving this beauty on the open UK roads, it’s been a lot longer than anticipated but looking at the build and where it is, the wait has been worth it.

We still have lots to do, like set up the bespoke coilover conversion that Bilstein supplied us, and set the ride height, as well as fit the huge rear diffuser and front and rear bumper mesh, which will finish off and tidy up the bumper openings. We also have to fit our authentic Z4 GT3 double blade rear wing assembly which we are really looking forward to as that really does complete the overall look of the car, and its well needed, and then its back to our good friends Dynotorque, our engine installers.

The last upgrade will be the wheels, the design we have chosen will be the RS5 from our wheel partner Litespeed racing, with a couple of decisions still need to be made, one being forged magnesium of forged aluminium and also the colour. We had chosen the matte and gloss black, but so many of you requesting we fit the bronze wheel set up on our white beauty, we are a little bit torn, do we play safe with black or go all out and go with the bronze.

We couldn’t have achieved this dream without a few people and at the end of the build they will all be thanked personally to include a decal on the cars launch, its not too much longer before our first of its kind hits the street.
