Meeting people and companies from within our industry is one of our biggest enjoyments, and over the last couple of weeks we have been talking to Ian Lawson of INGSport about sourcing the last few parts for our own BMW Z4 V8 GT3 Road build, which has been very helpful and enlightening certainly someone thats full of good information, so it has been great touching base with him and getting some professional feedback on his own amazing Z4 GT3 endurance Britcar that he races under his own company name banner.

Whilst talking to Ian about what parts we were hoping he could assist us with finding he informed us that his wonderful GT3 Z4 is up for sale, boy oh boy do we wish we had the funds in place for that purchase … but unfortunately we are 2 years in with our own road going Z4 V8 project.

The INGSport car has been rebuilt with new parts and comes with a huge list of spares, the car is basically ready to race to go racing and the price discussed it will be the cheapest Z4 GT3 to come on to the market that we know of, it really is a bargain, the icing on the cake for this amazing little bundle of joy is it’s the time-lapse build that can be seen on YouTube built by West Coast Racing is the car you will be buying, amazing that watching that video all those years ago and we are building our own car and we have since met Ian ... such a small world.

So if you want the most aggressive looking track car to ever grace a race track then get in touch with ourselves or Ian directly … and "YES" we are available at no cost if there is a spare race seat

Our good friend Johan Sjöstedt has been at it again, updating and fine tuning his amazing BMW Z4 GT3 creation, we have him to blame for us also taking the same path with our own BMW Z4 transformation.

I think everyone in the car scene around the globe knows of the BMW Z4 GT3 that Jens Byggmark drove in the 2014 Gumball 3000, built by West Coast Racing, if you don’t where have you been, as this is one of the most famous if not “THE” most famous Z4 on the planet, as I said it most certainly contributed towards us taking the plunge, as we were looking to sell our authentic full carbon kit, until we saw how it looked on the road, so a big thank you Johan for helping with our choice to build our V8 GT3 Z4.

So what has Johan been up to with the Z4 and what changes have been made since we spoke to him last year, well for starters the folding electric roof has been taken off and in its place a full carbon fibre BMW GT3 fixed hard top, and we must say we want one at some point as it looks so spectacular, he has also updated the N54 Turbo engine that the car was launched with, its been replaced by the S65 V8 with sequential gearbox.

The final change has been the all new white look, with the BMW Motorsport detail stripes around the sill, rear quarters and the bonnet vents, this is one serious transformation, and one that looks at home on the track as it does on the road.

Kudos to Johan for building what has to be the finest homage to the awesome BMW Z4 GT3 race cars in the world, we have a lot of work to do with our own Z4 GT3 V8 build, and if it turns out anything remotely like Johan’s beauty, I for one will be extremely happy.

The VAD BMW Z4 (E89) has finally finished its first round of modifications with the completion of our crate LS3 6.3LTR V8 engine installation, coilover suspension, brake and exhaust upgrade and we must say its turned out looking pretty immense, Craig at Dynotorque has done a pretty spectacular job, the engine install looks like it came out of the factory with this engine in place it’s that neat and tidy, it looks at home with plenty of room over the original 2.5Ltr N52B25 engine, it sits much further back with better weight distribution, with the added fact it’s a much lighter unit, we can’t just wait to hit the street in this beast, it’s going to be a pretty radical looking machine out on the open roads.

For the next stage we will be making a few suspension adjustments and will be modifying the inner fenders especially at the rear to accommodate the much larger wheel and tyre fitment, so the 13x19 and 345/30 tyres will fit as they should without any rubbing under load, It’s a necessary mod for any modified car that is having a wide body install, then it will be off to Emerald for the final map and Can-Bus setup, and then she will be ready to head off down to our composite partners BAMD for the Aspect GT carbon body GT3 install, Adam can’t wait to get his hands on this beast, and we can’t wait for him to give this build his magic touch.

Its taken us two years to research exactly what was required, along with the final spec of what we wanted, we did consider the S65 BMW V8, but after a conversation with Craig who explained the pitfalls of going that route, but how simple the LS3 conversion as well as the cost implications, it seemed like a no brainer, our vision and dream of building the ultimate road going Z4 is almost complete, and although we will upset some purists out there, we just remind ourselves, we have built this car for us, and we are happy with the route we have taken with this build.

We will be blogging when the car is down at BAMD, so be sure to bookmark us and follow the progress as it happens.
