We have had a busy time of late at the VAD HQ, with so much going on its been hectic, but no complaints it’s just the way we like it, and with the BMW Z4 V8 GT3 Just about to head off to Emerald for the last remap, it will then head down to our composite partners BAMD before heading into paint.

Now we get to concentrate on the next bit of work, which is a collaboration with one of our long-time friends Speedwells re-finishers, and to say we are looking forward to it is an understatement.

The sad part is Iby is about to sell off his pride and joy, his awesome red Supra with 800bhp, is automotive perfection, it seems to have been around forever and in a way it has been, as its gone through so many changes and recently spawned a twin in the form of a Black wide body, known as BOMB 11, but that didn't last too long as it was snapped up a few weeks back, and now he has decided to make way with his prize possession, and as we thought, it’s got a lot of interest among the Supra network, so it won’t be long before its found a new home.

So what’s next up to replace the legendary wide body Supra, well what we can tell you is it will be Bi Turbo from the Porsche stable, in the form of the 997 Chassis and will wear the full carbon fibre GT3R wide body aero kit, and it going to be one very special collaboration and build, when quality meets quality, perfection is guaranteed.

In our line of business with the products we offer, we get to not only ship our parts all around the world, we also get to work with some great people on their fantastic builds, and just recently our customer Yann Boivin who resides in Dubai completed his stunning RSR Inspired 997 Turbo.

VAD VM1 10x20>265/30R20 Front, 13x20>345/25R20 Rear

Yann made contact with us mid part of 2016 about building a wide body Porsche 997, based on his Turbo with his inspiration coming not just from the race series Porsche GT3 RSR, but the VAD RSR Turbo 650R build we did in 2013, although It a personal build we like to forget about, because it wasn’t built to a standard we have always strived for, the paint work wasn’t the best, we used a very cheap, poor quality FRP RSR kit, the fit was appalling, and the wheel build was to extreme, with our initial idea was to build a race looking Porsche 997 RSR, we build a stance cambered RSR, modifying the front bumper that gave the car a silly looking smile, if we had our time over again building an RSR turbo, it would be done totally different, as we will showcase when we start to construct our new Porsche 997 build, the GT3R bi-turbo, but we will cover that in another post when our build starts.

Yann had a few niggles along the way, mainly with the body shop he chose, but with a new recommendation and his vison and determination still in full flow, his dream build has now hit the street, and its one very special looking 997 Turbo.

His wheel choice from day one was to fit our VAD VF1 3 piece forged concave wheels as seen on our original demo, but they wouldn’t be as extreme, and they would be a completely tyre set up and colour combo, with Matte brushed bronze, with brushed silver hardware, 10x20 > 265/30R20 front and 13x20 > 345/25R20 rear sitting on custom coilover suspension, the finish and colour of the wheel suit the beautiful Metallic Khaki green to absolute perfection.

We have a full range of professional photos heading our way over the next few weeks, so check back in for details as they will be uploaded to our blog and VAD fitted vehicle gallery.

Huge congratulations to our good friend Todd and his team from Speed Concepts who took second place overall in this year’s one lap of America, in there awesome Porsche 997 GT3R TT.

Porsche 997 GT3R Twin Turbo

We have been following Todd and his updates and been in regular contact over the year to find out how the upgrades were progressing from last year to this, and it seems with what they have installed in the way of updates did them proud, with a little bit of help along the way from the likes of BBI, Cobb Tuning, it’s been a real pleasure to follow the updates and track the build progress over the last few months.

Full spec of this beauty is as follows:

The car started life as a Porsche Turbo S, and now wears a full carbon fibre GT3R aero kit, including all the nice little extras like the flat underbody floor from front to rear.

The engine is running stock internals and putting down 600+ wheel HP on a 93 octane tune. This Turbo is running 30/82 turbos, meth injection, air-to-water intercoolers, Speed Concept headers, Dodson clutches and IPD Plenum and custom IPD/SC Y-Pipe. The power is put to the ground through 13” Forgeline wheels with 345/30R19 tyres at the business end, with 12” wheels wearing 325/30R19 up the front. The suspension features ERP and BBI components, 997 RSR uprights, Tarret front sway bar and SC rear sway bar, as you can see its full loaded and no stone has been left unturned in its search for reliable performance, whilst being completely road legal.
