Well its been a while, but with this build blog being possibly the most important one in our company history, we felt it is going to be important to get this build documented meticulously, so its well worth the extra effort of logging the build process, as this one is super special and its taken a while to get to this point.

It all started back in 2018 with a visit to Germany to see our good friends the Zimmerman Family and if you are not familiar with that name its the home of DP Motorsport and Zimspeed, two separate companies but with an huge history for all things Porsche, Ekkehard Zimmerman of DP Motorsport the mastermind behind the aero kits and bodywork modifications of the original Porsche Kremer 935K3.

During our visit to Germany we managed to squeeze in a visit to the Kremer factory to see our friend and owner Eberhard Baunach and his amazing set up with the hope of seeing his all new Kremer K3 creation which had been based on the 997 Chassis dubbed the K3R, all designed built and put together by Holger Zimmerman and Eberhard didn't disappoint, letting us get up close and personal with the all new 997 K3R.

Our plan back then was to build our very own Porsche 997 Kremer K3R, but at that time Eberhard was only looking to build them in-house at cost upwards and over €200k Euro, the fact we couldn't build our own example, as well as the cost sent us off in another direction and as most people that follow us will know that direction was our GT3 street builds, what followed was the Speedwells 997 GT3R Turbo and the BMW Z4 GT3 V8 build.

Roll on to 2025 and the lure of the K3R again caught our attention, hearing that Eberhard had sold Kremer racing, not being privy to all of the details, what we do know is the amazing K3R race aero pack was not part of the deal, they do say patience is a virtue, and we must say we do agree.

Porsche 997 K3R Prototype build

So with not one but two K3R full exposed carbon aero kits ordered we have two builds in the pipeline, with our very own prototype build that will be constructed this year as well as 01 build for a local client being built at the early part of next year

Both builds will be twin turbo, V8 set ups, it would have been easier especially from a purist point of view to go down the Porsche Mezger Twin Turbo chassis route, with its Porsche engine, but if you know anything about us and what we do, normal is not in our vocabulary, lets be honest lots of people can put a kit onto a car, tune it and throw out a pretty decent looking car, Kremer have already done that with the K3R, showcasing their amazing product on 997 cup cars and the 997 Turbo chassis, out of the small amount of 997's that have been produced 3 race cars and 1 street car, so we plan to do things a little different, built under the GT3RR brand, where VAD will supply the aero kits and forged magnesium wheels, LSX Performance will build the 800hp + Fully forged V8 twin turbo engines and BC Fab with supply the installation brains and skill set of the projects, with the likes of Bilstein and Turbo Smart already onboard with the project, if there is one build worth a follow, its this one.

We are pleased to announce that our Porsche 997 GT3 R13 LS7 V8 is now officially complete, built by the extremely talented duo at LSX-Performance Kyle and Ashley, this is one Porsche that you will want sitting on your drive way, so let’s look at what makes this 997 so special.

It started life as a very sick 997 C4S and as with most of the 991.1 3.8 engines this one also had the very famous piston slap and not even 100k on the clock, which was the main reason for buying this particular car as we had discussed with kyle 18 month previously that this build would wear our forged 3 piece wheels, along with our R13 GT3R wide aero kit and he would build one of his very special bespoke LS7 V8 engines with this one pumping out 680 HP on its highly tuned AWD chassis.

On this build we worked with Nitron Suspension fitting at set of the NTR R1, that work in tandem by the GT3RR manufactured adjustable arms, that position the wheels to perfection with all the caster and camber adjustable, the set up will need to fine tuning over the coming weeks, although we do like the Nitron set up, all builds moving forward we will be working with our long term partners Bilstein who will build us a system specifically built for our application.

The car needs a bit of fine tuning and the air intake system that GT3RR have developed now needs some miles and we have developed a new engine cover and rear wing assembly where the intake filters reside, the engine also needs its final map, then its just a case of getting this beauty out and about for people to see up close and personal.

We will be building this platform as a drive in drive out turn key conversion with everything done in-house with GT3RR and BCFAB at our new base in Market Drayton Shropshire, we have base models in stock ready to convert, so they are at the stage of choosing your engine specification along with body colour, so get in touch with us for further information.

It’s been a while since we have dropped a blog post and with a build like this one we have going on it needs to be shared globally as we have been asked over and over where is the build at and you will be please to know this build is almost complete.

This amazing 997GT3R build has been held up because we didn’t want to run a conventional GT3R race wing, that’s been done to death and its nothing new, we also wanted to have a 993 style GT2 engine cover with the side air intakes that used to feed air into the air cooled engine bay and its something we wanted to bring to the 997 LS7 V8 builds, but again the GT2 rear wing on a 996 or a 997 isn’t new and we wanted a different look than the usual GT2.

We managed to source a Gemballa style cover, but on delivery and inspection the quality was terrible and a part pretty much fit for the trash, so we decided to revamp and redesign with a cover that could be functional, so the side air intakes will have form and function.

With any 996 / 997 V8 conversion the air filter will want to sit where the power steering pump is situation so you have to convert to electronic steering and relocate to the front boot, but we dislike that the filter system is getting no cold air as its sitting in the engine bay sucking hot air, with our new set up the panel filters will sit in the engine cover which is an exclusive set up for this conversion.

With the build coming to the end we will be out and about at many shows this year as we can, so follow our network to see where you can see the car up close and personal.
